Police: Woman sexually assaulted in downtown parking lot

A woman was sexually assaulted in a downtown parking lot early Sunday morning, according to the Anchorage Police Department.

A witness called 911 just after 4 a.m. to report seeing a woman being sexually assaulted in a parking lot near the corner of 6th Avenue and Fairbanks Street east of downtown Anchorage, Myren said.

Details of the circumstances of the assault aren't yet clear, said APD spokeswoman Dani Myren.

Responding police officers found the victim and took her to an area hospital, she said. .

They were able to interview the woman, Myren said.

Police are still looking for a suspect.

"At this point it doesn't look like an arrest has been made yet but it looks like the may have gotten a warrant," she said.
