Letter: Bring these people out of shadows

AnchorageJune 23, 2013

We all can guess who the undocumented immigrants in our midst are, and I’ll bet the vast majority you know are honest, hardworking, good people. They’re just like our great grandparents when they came to America, wanting to have an honest shot at a better life for themselves and their families in a good country. They add to this country just like our forebears did.

Yes, we had weak borders before and should strengthen our borders but it’s not realistic to think we’ll be 100 percent effective. Call our congressional delegation and let them know we want to get beyond all this and allow these people to be out of the shadows, and to be full contributors to our society and its diversity.
