The 32nd Annual Alaska Scottish Highland Games take place on Saturday at Eagle River Lions Park. The gates open at 8 a.m. and activities will go on until the midnight sun sets. Tickets at the gate are $15 for adults and $5 for wee ‘uns.

But if you want to do the Scottish thing and save money by getting them in advance ($12.50 and $4) you should probably act now. The Anchorage location for advance tickets, Celtic Treasures, 4240 Old Seward Highway, will be closed on Friday, the day before the event. Advance tickets are also available at The Bookshelf in Eagle River, 11401 Old Glenn Hwy. Suite 110.

There’ll be competitions in piping, dancing and strenuous Scottish sports, along with live music by Celtica. There’s also a Scotch tasting, with a sample of five fine single malts. Overflow parking is available at Gruening Middle School and the Eagle River Road Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Shuttle buses will run from Eagle River High School and Eagle River Wal-Mart.
