Fairbanks goalie Stephon Williams picked in 4th round of NHL draft

Just a quick update here -- goaltender Stephon Williams of Fairbanks was taken in the fourth round of the NHL draft today by the New York Islanders.

He became the 35th Alaskan drafted and the highest Alaska goaltender drafted.

Williams, who will be a sophomore at Minnesota State-Mankato, last season was the WCHA First-Team goalie and Rookie of the Year. He went 21-12-2, with a 2.00 goals-against average, .924 save percentage and four shutouts, and led the Mavericks to the NCAA tournament,

Williams is a former Alaska Player of the Year and led Lathrop to the state title as a sophomore.
