A 27-year-old Anchorage man was convicted of first degree assault Monday for shooting another man in the leg and arm.

Eddie Gray Jr. pleaded guilty to shooting Charles Sherrill Jr. twice after the two argued on East 42nd Avenue in Anchorage on November 13, 2012.

Sherrill, 40, lost so much blood that physicians considered him "dead" on the operating table at one point, said prosecutor Adam Alexander.

Gray has no prior felony convictions in Alaska, according to Alexander.

He faces up to seven years in prison. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Aug. 23.
