Goldpanners 8, Pilots 1

The Fairbanks Goldpanners continued their assault on the Alaska Baseball League on Saturday, sweeping a doubleheader with the Anchorage Glacier Pilots at Growden Memorial Park to win for the ninth time in their last 10 games.

The first-place Goldpanners (16-6), cruised to an 8-1 victory in the opener and rolled to a 7-2 win in the second game. Fairbanks starter Joey Capistran left with a 4-1 lead in the third inning and reliever Cody Moffett retired the last 14 batters in the seven-inning game. Fairbanks' David Fletcher ripped a three-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning to help cement the win.

Nick Catalano drove in four runs on two hits in the Goldpanners' second win. A two-run home run from Catalano highlighted a four-run first inning. Mikey Ramirez pitched five innings to earn a win.

The Pilots tagged Ramirez for two runs in the fourth inning on a two-run double from Kewby Meyer.

Bucs 5, Oilers 1

The Bucs sent eight men to the plate in the top of the 10th inning to score four runs for a 5-1 win over the Oilers.

Cedric Vallieres triggered the rally with a leadoff double, the first of three hits, all of them doubles. The Bucs also took advantage of an Oiler error and a couple of wild pitches to break open the deadlocked game.

Collin Ferguson contributed a one-out RBI double and Chase Compton stroke a two-out, two-run double in the decisive inning.

Miners 13, Chinooks 2

The Mat-Su Miners scored four runs in the seventh inning and five more in the eigthth to pull away for a 13-2 blowout of the Chugiak Chinooks at Hermon Brothers Field.

The second-place Miners (16-11) still lost a half game in the standings to the Fairbanks Goldpanners, who swept a doubleheader with the Anchorage Glacier Pilots.

Mat-Su starter Ty Schlottmann struck out eight over six innings to earn a win.
