Letter: Parkway backers aren’t worthy

July 18, 2013

I find it ironic that the Alaska Legislative Majority and Gov. Parnell, the same tag-team duo that gave away billions from our natural resources to the oil companies, approved and signed off on the plan to rename Minnesota Drive “Walter J. Hickel Parkway.” Gov. Hickel, the man who coined the term “owner state,” is being honored by a group of men and women who will stop at nothing to destroy the state he helped build.

If the group is set on renaming a road in Alaska, why not change the road leading to BP’s headquarters to “Parnell Drive?” At least that would be appropriate and not an insult to a great Alaskan.
