Summer of Support for Clare House

New facility renovations are nearly complete

Anchorage, AK -- Renovations for the new Clare House, a homeless shelter for women with children and expectant mothers, at 4110 Spenard Road are nearly complete and residents will be moving in next month.

Catholic Social Services is asking the community to help us welcome homeless families by providing linens and housewarming items for the rooms. A gift registry with JC Penney has been set up and can be accessed by visiting cssalaska.org or the Anchorage store at 406 West 5th Avenue (note - First Name: Clare House, Last name: CSS, Event: Baby).

Along with the housewarming registry, community members can support Clare House by participating in one or more of the following events:

Marie’s Beauty Salon & Supply is sponsoring a 20th Anniversary raffle for Clare House. This summer marks Marie’s 20th year of shelter support!

The 6th Annual Plein Air Painter’s Weekend to benefit Clare House will be held July 27th & 28th from 10 am - 6 pm (Saturday & Sunday), at the home of Don & Cindy Kolstad, 5801 Barry Avenue, Anchorage. Plein Air is a French term meaning “painting outdoors on location.” Attendees may purchase art from 20 participating Alaskan artists.

The largest fashion show in Alaska, the 5th Annual Clare to Clare event, will be held on Saturday, July 27th from 6:30 to 10:30pm at the Dena’ina Center; doors open at 5:30 p.m. all proceeds benefit Clare House.
