Letter: Illegal fishing should be stopped

Anchorage Daily NewsJuly 28, 2013

I agree with Joe Buessler’s letter to the editor (Wednesday), regarding a Field and Game official citing a young man for illegally keeping a red salmon. Illegal fish are going to be accidentally caught from time to time, and no law is broken if it’s immediately returned to the water. To keep an illegal fish, however, that is breaking the law. Since most of us do respect the law, even if it means we go home without any fish, I say great work F&G officer — for holding accountable and fining law breakers. To be responsible fishing people, we are to know and follow the rules. Teach em while they’re young, right Joe?
