Living in The Hood (Mountain View), I gained new respect and gratitude for police/fire staff serving our community. People say it’s their job; they chose it. My response is thank God they chose to do this oftentimes thankless job; no amount of money could entice me!
They never know what’s around the corner: a ticking bomb of domestic dispute fueled by alcohol, or the horror left in the wake of the recent brutal rape and murder of a family. In the midst of this, they’re tasked with enforcing laws handed down by legislators. They pass them, but don’t provide staff and means to enact enforcement (texting while driving). I consider police and fire personnel among the best of my great neighbors. When a recent medical emergency prompted a 911 call at 3 a.m., I was amazed to see police and paramedics arrive in under five minutes. There aren’t enough thank yous in the world to express my gratitude that you chose this career and arrived on my doorstep so quickly when I needed help.
