Letter: New format is ridiculous

August 1, 2013

The new opinion page format is a joke. When individuals are paid for their opinions on controversial issues, relevant to readers, a left and right perspective on one subject should be presented side by side. Random opinions left unchallenged by either side only aid in deceptive information practices.

Case in point is Bill Press’ comments, Aug. 1. A liberal host for foreign-owned Current TV posits that Fox News fabricated the IRS “scandal” when the IRS admitted they had targeted tea party/conservative groups nearly 10 to 1. He referenced Yahoo News and Politico as if they were the final authority. If Current TV, Yahoo News and Politico have inside-information access to the IRS, we are really in trouble.

Opinions are opinions, but even opinions need to be based on facts. Fair, balanced, honest.
