This morning (July 29), I saw a wondrous event. A policeman pulled over a scofflaw bicyclist.
This rider disrespected all law-abiding cyclists and deserves condemnation from all of us. Such behavior undermines the (legitimate assertion of) rights of cyclists to use the city streets.
He not only rode (illegally advancing himself to the intersection) between the lines of northbound cars waiting at a stop light on Tudor and Elmore, he (during a lull in cross traffic) rode through the red light.
Note: there was a bike path 20 feet to his right, and an overpass he could have used.
My respect to the police officer who corrected the lawbreaker.
To motorists, please don’t let a few rotten bikers spoil your opinion of responsible bikers on the road.
