Folmar, Stull splash to triathlon titles

Non-stop rain and chilly weather didn't deter nearly 100 triathletes from Sunday's Alaska State Championship race in Knik.

Daniel Folmar and Amber Stull used the 40-kilometer bike leg to distance them from their competitors and claim victories.

The race began with a 1,500-meter swim in Knik Lake. Then came the bike, followed by a 10-K run on a mixture of trails and pavement.

Folmar completed the race in 2 hours, 3 minutes, 20 seconds, winning by more than four minutes over Mick Bakker.

Stull clocked 2:14:49 for a similarly decisive win over Larrell Lockard (2:19:26).
