Wine of the week: 2012 Villa Wolf Pinot Noir

August 15, 2013

Now here's a little wine that has everything going for it. It's a pinot noir, it's lightly sweet, it's balanced and it's a rose. Now that's the ticket! When I say sweet I mean barely and when I say balanced I mean there is enough acidity to lift the sugar. Pinot noir is of course the most in grape out there and roses are most definitely in fashion. The vinous, floral, strawberry fruits are delicious and the medium light body is juicy and satisfying. What can this summer wonder be? The 2012 Villa Wolf Pinot Noir from the Pfalz in Germany. Yes, the Germans have been growing pinot noir for years and this beautiful rose is just super duper. Serve with salmon and light chicken dishes. Costs about $15.
