Chelsea Peterson of Juneau, who led the Crimson Bears to the state tournament two straight years, will join UAA for the upcoming volleyball season.

Peterson is one of seven newcomers on the team, which debuts Aug. 24 with the Green-Gold alumni game.

Peterson, a 5-foot-8 outside hitter, was a two-time all-tournament picks at the Class 4A state tournament her junior and senior seasons.

UAA coach Chris Green said in a press release that Peterson has a good skill set, "especially for someone who -- because of geography -- did not have the opportunity to play club volleyball."

The Seawolves return seven players from last season's 16-10 team.
