— Police are looking for a man who allegedly broke into a South Anchorage home Aug. 12 and sexually assaulted a woman inside.

Jonathan William Nelson, 27, is wanted on felony warrants for first-degree sexual assault and first-degree burglary, according to police.

“It was a person that was known to him,” police spokeswoman Anita Shell said. “He broke into the home and sexually assaulted the victim.”

Nelson is “assaultive” and known to carry weapons, Shell said. He is described as 6 feet tall and 200 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Nelson has tattoos covering both arms, Shell said.

Police ask that anyone with information on Nelson’s whereabouts call Crime Stoppers at (907) 561-STOP or to give trips anonymously at www.anchoragecrimestoppers.com. In some cases, a tipster can be eligible for a cash reward, Shell said.
