High school tennis for Friday, Aug. 23

West 9, Chugiak 0

Reed Lekander and Ava Lekander both took straight-set singles victories Friday to help West cruise past Chugiak in a season-opening Cook Inlet Conference tennis meet.

West won all nine matches, six of them without losing a game.

Boys singles 1 — Reed Lekander (W) d Max Haines (c) 6-0, 6-0.Boys singles 1 — Edwin Burton (W) d Jacob Schercliffe (C) 6-2, 6-0

Girls singles 1 — Ava Lekander (W) d Tash Boyer (C) 6-0, 6-0. Girls singles 2 — Alli Haines (W) d Ripleigh Campnell (C) 6-0, 6-0. Boys doubles 1 — Keenan Hodges/Chas Anderson (W) d Luke Oldham/Johnny Wolfe (C) 6-0, 6-0. Boys doubles 2 — Seneca Scott/Davis Ortland (W) d Parker Stone/Ked Butikofer (C) 6-0, 6-1. Girls doubles 1 — Aleah Kennedy/Madelyn Boslough (W) d Carrie Cook/Izzy LaRue (C) 6-0, 6-0. Girls doubles 2 — Kalena Weimer/Anita Samuel (W) d Kathryn Bistodeau/Kailey Gates (C) 6-0, 6-1. Mixed doubles — Ellen Silverman/David Woo (W) d Grant Cook/Maggie Krafft (C) 6-1, 6-1.  

 

Eagle River 6, Bartlett 0

Hannah Spainhour and Claire Bottini were the only on-court winners Friday in Eagle River’s 6-0 blanking of Bartlett in season-opening Cook Inlet Conference tennis action.

Spainhour and Bottini won the only matches played, with both picking up straight-set girls singles victories for Eagle River.

Eagle River won four matches by default, and three of the nine scheduled matches were double forfeits.

Boys singles 1 — Ryan Casey (ER) won by default. Boys singles 2 — Dagan Mullins (ER) won by default. Girls singles 1 — Hannah Spainhour (ER) def. Kiana Mitchell (B) 6-4, 6-3. Girls singles 2 — Claire Bottini (ER) def. Cheryl Anspach (B) 6-0, 6-2. Boys doubles 1 — Jace Jerome/Dan McLain (ER) won by default. Girls doubles 1 —  Mary Stone/Tess Hopkins (ER) won by default.
