Letter: Irresponsible to deny warming

August 24, 2013

At first climate-change skeptics claimed that global warming wasn’t happening, then when global warming became irrefutable their contention became that it is due to “natural causes.”

This seems nonsensical to me. As climate scientists universally agree that carbon dioxide is both a greenhouse gas and an acid, it only stands to reason that warming and ocean acidity will increase as humans continue to pump vast quantities of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Unless I’m missing something, it’s a simple cause-and-effect relationship. To deny this is irresponsible. To encourage others to deny it is worse.
