Letter: University dropped the ball in hosting Nobel Prize winner

August 26, 2013

Well, UAA administration did it once again. They showed us how their Community College roots still tug at them. Instead of scheduling Nobel Prize winner Dr. Brian Schmidt in the Wendy Williamson (or what about the West High School auditorium), they tried to squeeze the educated, science-loving members of the Anchorage community into the UAA Fine Arts theater. The line literally went out the building, to infinity and beyond. So many folks turned away — disappointed like us. What a waste of a sunny afternoon.

Hey, UAA, how about acting more like a university and less like the community college you once were. Show your community you care and deserve the title university.
