Former Aces on the move; Ice Dog commits to college

In our continuing quest to keep up with former Alaska Aces -- after 10 seasons in the ECHL, there's a lot of those guys -- eliteprospects.com reports defenseman Russ Sinkewich and forward Judd Blackwater have found new homes.

Sinkewich, who has earned considerable AHL time the last two seasons, has signed with ECHL Colorado. Sinkewich began last season with the Aces (four assists in 23 games) before he was traded to Gwinnett (3-2--5 in 11 games) and then promoted to AHL Portland (four helpers to 21 games). Two seasons ago, Sink played 30 games in the A.

Blackwater, who last season for ECHL Las Vegas racked 19-31-50 totals in 69 games, is headed to Olimpija Ljubljana in the Austrian league. That's the same outfit that previously signed former Aces winger Scott Howes for the upcoming season.

And on the junior/college front, the NAHL reports that Fairbanks Ice Dogs goaltender Kevin Aldridge has made a commitment to Lake Superior State, where he will join the team in 2014-15. Aldridge last season for Fairbanks went 19-9-1 with a 2.33 goals-against average, .915 save percentage and one shutout.
