Hot picks: David Grisman Quintet, Delmag, and Jazz Night

David Grisman Quintet

The mandolin master who turned picking and grinning into a high art form returns to Anchorage for one show Thursday at Bear Tooth Theatrepub. Tickets for the 21-and-older show are $35, available at Bear Tooth. Doors open at 8 p.m. and opening acts kick off at 8:30 with Grisman and the Dawgs coming on at 9:30.

Delmag CD release

"Northern States," the latest CD release by Delmag, will be unveiled at Humpy's, 610 W. Fifth Ave., Friday. Admission to the all-ages Rock the Lot outdoor show is $10, which comes with a beer for those 21 and older or a Red Bull for those below the legal drinking age. How can you lose? Melissa Bledsoe Fischer supplies the music and Ruffino Winery supplies the wine, cleverly paired to the items in a six-course gourmet Italian meal. Seating is limited to 30 couples and the cost is $75 per person. No host bar is available before and after the dinner, Saturday at 6 p.m. at O'Malley's on the Green, 3651 O'Malley Road.
