Looks like no UAF for Lane Bauer; WHL Edmonton instead

Maybe this will be of some consolation to UAA hockey fans who last season were bummed goal-scoring prospect Lane Bauer of Anchorage -- the most coveted recruit in the state -- made a commitment to UAF instead of his hometown team.

Looks like Bauer, who played last season for Dimond High and the Alaska Junior Aces, isn't going to be a Nanook after all.

Bauer, 17, is in training camp with the Edmonton Oilers of the major-junior Western Hockey League.

"Proud to be an Oil King,'' Bauer tweeted earlier this week.

The Oil Kings, meanwhile, have released any info on Bauer's status.
