Chargers dump Starks in early cuts

The San Diego Chargers have released 11 players, including offensive tackle Max Starks.

Starks failed to beat out King Dunlap for the starting left tackle job. The 31-year-old spent nine seasons with Pittsburgh before signing with San Diego in the offseason.

The Chargers also released cornerbacks Cornelius Brown, Greg Gatson and William Middleton, safety Sean Cattouse, linebackers Phillip Dillard, Jerrell Harris and Daniel Molls, tackle Randy Richards, guard Steve Schilling and wide receiver Luke Tasker.
