Anyone up for Oktoberfest on the rails?

The Great Alaska Beer Train has been scheduled for Oct. 5. It's a beer festival that travels along Turnagain Arm and through the spectacular scenery of Chugach National Forest. Appetizers are provided along with "specialty brews" from Glacier Brewhouse. And there's live music to enhance your sipping pleasure.

Details: The train pulls of out Anchorage at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, and returns at 8:30 p.m. the same day after making the round trip to Portage.

Tickets are $159 and include six half-pints of beer. Additional brew will be available for additional money. And, yes, you must be 21 or over to buy a ticket.

Get more details and make reservations at www.alaskarailroad.com/beertrain or call Alaska Railroad reservations at 1-800-544-0552.
