New UAA coach Matt Thomas and his staff aren't wasting any time securing recruits -- they've nabbed their second one in the last week or so, the latest a kid who will join the Seawolves in 2015-16.
According to eliteprospects.com and Chris Heisenberg's excellent recruiting site, UAA has received a commitment from Anthony Conti, a forward-defenseman who will play this season for the Penticton Vees in the BCHL. A recruit the Seawolves recently landed, goaltender Olivier Mantha, who will join the Seawolves in 2014-15, also will play this season for Penticton. (The BCHL opens its season Friday).
Penticton, which also announced Conti's commitment, lists him as a forward.
Conti, who turns 18 at the end of this month, played some in the BCHL last year (a combined 16 games with Trail and Coquitlam, no points), but spent much of the season in the B.C. Major Midget League, where the 6-foot-2, 190-pounder from North Vancouver earned 18-30--48 totals in 35 games. In eight playoff games, he was good for 3-5--8 totals.
