Radio host discovered badly injured outside bar

The Associated PressSeptember 6, 2013

— Police in Kodiak are trying to determine how a local radio producer and show host was injured severely outside a bar.

Police Chief T.C. Kamai said injuries suffered early Sunday by Danny Unruh of KVOK-FM outside the Village Bar are being investigated as an assault.

Officers at 4:30 a.m. Sunday found Unruh on a sidewalk. Friends said he had been beaten by several men or might have been fleeing and fell from an elevated sidewalk.

The Kodiak Daily Mirror reported Unruh suffered a broken leg, a dislocated shoulder and face injuries.

A surveillance camera showed three men standing over Unruh. Kamai is asking the public’s help in identifying the men.

Unruh was transported to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage for treatment.
