South gymnasts triumph in four-team meet

Powered by JoJo Mills’ victories in the balance beam and uneven parallel bars, South won a Cook Inlet Conference gymnastics quad meet Saturday at Chugiak.

South’s 184.25 points topped a field that included Service, Chugiak and West.

Chugiak’s Maddie Smith won the floor exercise and earned a share of the vault title on her way to all-around honors. Smith was part of a three-way tie for the vaulting lead with Vianey Romero of Service and Mileena Denney of South; all posted scores of 8.3.
