South tennis team flattens Eagle River

Bryce Foster recovered from a bruising loss in the first set to claim a 1-6, 6-1, 13-11 boys singles win over Ryan Casey, helping South to an 8-1 team victory over Eagle River in a Cook Inlet Conference tennis meet Thursday.

Palden Flynn had an easier time winning her girls singles match for South, cruising to a 6-0, 6-0 win.

Boys singles 1 — Bryce Foster (S) d. Ryan Casey 1-6, 6-1, 13-11. Boys singles 2 — Thomas Hanks (S) d. Dagan Mullins 6-2, 6-0. Girls singles 1 — Palden Flynn (S) d. Hannah Spainhour 6-0, 6-0. Girls singles 2 — Cristina Whitworth (S) d. Claire Bottini 6-0, 6-2. Boys doubles 1 — Justin Wolfe/Daniel Frentzel (S) d. Jace Jerome/Daniel McLain 6-1, 6-0. Boys doubles 2 — Terek Rutherford/Thomas Johnson (S) won by forfeit. Girls doubles 1 — Zoey Flynn/Taylor Matthew (S) d. Mary Stone/Dana Bernhardt 6-0, 6-2. Girls doubles 2 — Tess Hopkins/Kaitlin Bernhardt (ER) won by forfeit. Mixed doubles — Alex Wong/Sheryl Almario (S) won by forfeit.
