South runners on top of CIC standings

South’s Kaitlin Bailly and Derek Steele hold the top spots in the Cook Inlet Conference cross-country running standings through the last week’s Skinny Raven Urban Race. 

Bailly extended her lead from 29 points to 41 in the girls division, and Steele vaulted from second to first in the boys division, where he now holds a 13-point lead over previous leader Ty Jordan of Chugiak. 

Next up are Friday’s quad meets, which mark the last events before the CIC championship later this month. Service, Bartlett, South and West will run at Service High at 4 p.m., with Chugiak, Dimond, Eagle River and East competing at Chugiak High at 4:30 p.m.
