Letter: Eisenhower’s farewell said it all

AnchorageSeptember 18, 2013

Oil jobs increased wildly during ACES. Investment in Alaska is the highest since the 80’s boom. Gov. Parnell wants to give away up to $1 billion a year back to, primarily, the big three oil companies.

Parnell sometimes seems like a transparent double-agent redirecting rightful payment for public resources into the hands of hand wringing masters. Too bad it’s at the cost of competition, diversification, and truly new production. Sean Parnell may never realize that what is in the best interests of multi-national corporations, isn’t what’s best for Alaska, the United States, or our citizens. Maybe he should read Eisenhower’s farewell speech.
