Greenpeace turns Arctic confrontation with Russians into short action film

On September 18, Greenpeace activists scaled a Gazprom oil rig in the Russian Arctic. The armed response they encountered was ruthless. This is the kind of protection the Russian oil industry gets from authorities, but the real threat to the Arctic comes not from peaceful activists but from oil companies like Gazprom that will stop at nothing for the world's riskiest oil. Greenpeace quickly turned its attempt this week to board a Gazprom oil platform in the Russian Arctic into a YouTube action short. The group in recent years has been trying to disrupt offshore Arctic drilling in Russian and Alaska waters.
