Bartlett 13, East 7 (OT)
Overtime heroics from Amber Andrews and Madeleine Sereyko keyed Bartlett’s 13-7 thriller over East in a Cook Inlet Conference flag football game Friday at Anchorage Football Stadium.
Andrews rushed 10 yards for a touchdown on Bartlett’s first play from scrimmage in overtime, when each team is given the ball at the 10-yard line and four plays to reach the end zone.
When East got its chance in the extra period, Bartlett got big defensive stops from Andrews and Sereyko. East was penalized five yards on its first play, Andrews had a pull for a loss of one yard on East’s second play, Sereyko knocked down a pass on the third play and intercepted a pass on the fourth play.
Bartlett struck first in regulation on Valerie Sao’s 12-yard pass to Tala Luavale.
East answered in the fourth quarter on an 88-yard interception return by Grace Wiggins.
Dimond 41, West 6
Lauren Hines tallied three interceptions and four pulls and Tara Thompson had a hand in three touchdowns Friday to boost Dimond’s undefeated flag football team past West 41-6 in the Lynx’s homecoming game at Dimond Alumni Field.
Thompson rushed for 91 yards and passed for 56. She completed all six pass attempts, twice finding Malia Lyken for touchdowns. She rushed four yards for another touchdown, and helped out defensively with eight pulls.
Hines returned one of her interceptions for a touchdown, and the Lynx (7-0) got another touchdown on Whitney Jackson’s 22-yard pass to Kaylee Ige.
