Letter: History shows the good works of Christianity

September 22, 2013

I sometimes wonder why so many people who attack Christianity don’t do some research and read history before they spew such diatribe toward a religion that has changed the world since its origin.

The elimination of slavery, supporting women’s self-realization, decreasing child abuse, feeding the hungry, giving shelter to the homeless, and curing the sick are just a few examples of the good works Christianity has promoted.

Roman society was full of depravity until laws that were influenced by Christianity were put into place.

Today there would be a deep void of helplessness if Christian-based charitable works were taken away. There is no government entity that can replace all these institutions that are helping so many people in the U.S. Christians believe there is only one true loving God, and the church is His cornerstone for promoting His purpose. It has been this way for thousands of years and it will remain for many more in spite of continuous attacks by unbelievers.
