Haven't even started the 2013 NHL season, but the league's Central Scouting has unveiled its preliminary list of players to watch for the 2014 draft, and defenseman Josh Hanson of Eagle River and forward Justin Gutierrez of Anchorage merited nods.
Both were given "C'' rankings -- that means they are prospective draft picks. An "A'' ranking means a player is potentially a first-round pick and a "B'' ranking means a possible second- or third-round pick.
Hanson, 19, who is in his fourth season with the Western Hockey League's reigning champion Portland Winterhawks, is a 6-3, 2007-pounder who last season put up 1-10--11 totals and a +32 rating in playing all 72 regular-season games for the Winterhawks. He's 0-0--0 and +1 in two games this season.
Gutierrez, 17, is in his second full season with the WHL's Tri-City Americans. The 6-4, 184-pounder last season had 4-5--9 and -5 totals in 48 games for Tri City. He's 0-0--0 and -1 in two games this season.
