Alaska State Troopers on Monday afternoon were at the scene of a fatal accident in Fairbanks involving a Ford F-350 and a Jeep Liberty, troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said. A driver in one vehicle was pronounced dead, Peters said. The other driver appeared to be unharmed.

The accident has closed a section of Badger Road. The road was expected to be shut down for approximately three hours between Lakloey and Riverview drives, Peters wrote in an email before 3 p.m. Monday. She said winter driving conditions have led to numerous collisions in the Fairbanks area.
