Regarding: Lisa Demer’s article Saturday about water rights for salmon protection.
I am glad that Ms. Demer pointed out the deficiencies in the elected officials failing to protect Alaskan’s finest renewable resource, salmon, which provides food and money on the table for tens of thousands of Alaskans. House Bill 77 is a bad bill for Alaska families. HB 77 disproportionately and adversely impacts Alaska Native fisherman who depend on Alaska’s renewable resources to meet physical, cultural and spiritual needs. I urge Alaskans to ask your representatives to prioritize water reservations for protection of salmon habitat and oppose HB 77.
