Bartlett 7, South 0

Valerie Sao's 18-yard touchdown pass to Madeleine Sereyko lifted Bartlett to a 7-0 upset of South in a Tuesday night flag football game at South.

South, which entered the game as the Cook Inlet Conference's second-place team, threatened to score a number of times, penetrating Bartlett's red zone four or five times, including once when it was stymied at the one-foot line.

"We had a lot of great stops," Bartlett coach Steve Stansbury said.

The Sao-to-Sereyko touchdown came in the first quarter. After that it was all defense.

"Both teams played super defensively," Stansbury said. "It was very tough to move the ball."

Cheyenne Mann led Bartlett's defense with seven pulls for losses. Sao had four pulls for losses and Tala Lauvale had three.

East 20, Service 13, OT

Sierra Rosenzwieg scored two touchdowns Tuesday and reeled in a game-ending interception to help East pull out a 20-13 overtime CIC victory over host Service.

Rosenzwieg intercepted a lateral pass and took it in for a touchdown to open scoring in the first quarter, and she scored again in the second quarter on a 30-yard reverse run.

East's Mia Wilson broke a 13-13 tie when she caught a 20-yard touchdown pass in overtime, then Rosenzwieg ended Service's ensuing possession with an interception.

Service trailed 13-0 in the fourth quarter, but made up the difference with touchdown passes to Zoe Bailey and Haleigh Van Allen. Bailey scored from 35 yards out and Van Allen reached pay dirt from 20 yards out.

Ashley Widmer gathered eight pulls to lead Cougars defense.

"Defensively, we played extremely well, and I think this is our first game where we had two offensive touchdowns, so we're making progress" Service coach Joel Carter said.

Dimond 42, Eagle River 0

Vanessa Tufaga and Malia Lyken each ran for more than 100 yards Tuesday at Dimond High, where the Lynx thumped Eagle River 42-0 in a CIC flag football game.

Tufaga, who also led the defense with four pulls, finished with 117 yards on the ground and touchdown runs of 55 and 39 yards. Lyken accumulated 110 rushing yards, with a 28-yard touchdown run. Tiffany Jackson and Tara Thompson each added rushing touchdowns, with Thompson collecting a touchdown pass from Whitney Jackson.

Lyken pitched in on defense with a pull and an interception, with Abby Corral and Taelor Howley each adding three pulls to help the Lynx improve to 8-0.

West 20, Chugiak 6

The West flag football team rode the arm of quarterback Annie Rush to a CIC victory Tuesday at Anchorage Football Stadium, where the Eagles took down Chugiak 20-6.

Rush, who led the Eagles in rushing with 54 yards, completed 15 of 25 passes for 239 yards and three touchdowns. Touchdown passes of 10 and 22 yards went to Abby Fisher, who finished with five catches for 69 yards.

West's Maya McPherson reeled in three catches for 93 yards and a touchdown, and Grace Kubitz caught three passes for 54 yards. Natalie Manskie led West with seven pulls, three that resulted in sacks.
