If there’s one thing most Alaskans agree on, it is how much we value our wild salmon, some of the last in the world. Experts say it will be impossible to restore the wild salmon stream in the Upper Cook Inlet that will be damaged if the proposed Chuitna coal strip mine is permitted to go through. This sets a horrible precedent. The Chuitna mine threatens the entire Cook Inlet by risking subsistence hunting and fishing and destroying valuable wetland habitat. And for no benefit to Alaskans, since the coal will be used to power Asia, not Alaska.
Please contact your state senators to vote no on HB77 and to oppose the proposed Chuitna coal strip mine. Generations of Alaskans will thank you for acting to protect our wild salmon.
