Kenai River's Alec Butcher of Anchorage earns NAHL award

Posted by DOYLE WOODY, on October 1, 2013

So, this Alec Butcher kid, a forward from Anchorage for the Kenai River Brown Bears, is off to a sweet start in the NAHL this season.

Butcher, 19, racked the Midwest Division's Star of the Week honor after bagging two goals and a helper in a pair of games last weekend. He also cranked off 10 shots on goal.

Butcher leads the NAHL in scoring with 6-5--11 totals in eight games, and his 30 shots on goal tie him for second on the circuit. He also checks in with a +4 rating.

The Brown Bears (5-3-0) sit tied for second in the division with Coulee Region (5-1-0) at 10 points. Those clubs trail the Fairbanks Ice Dogs (7-1-0), who have pocketed 14 points.

Kenai River on Friday and Saturday nights entertains Coulee Region at the Soldotna Sports Center. Puck drops 7:30 both evenings.
