Dimond 20, Service 0
Malia Lyken scored three touchdowns Saturday, leading the Dimond flag football team to a 20-0 Cook Inlet Conference win over Service at Anchorage Football Stadium.
Lyken accumulated 185 yards of offense, rushing for 153 and making three catches for 32. She caught touchdown passes of 22 and 11 yards, and ran for a 37-yard score. Vanessa Tufaga was another mighty contributor to the Dimond rushing attack, racking 111 yards on six carries. Quarterback Tara Thompson threw for 46 yards and two touchdowns.
Thompson and Abby Corral led the Dimond defense with six pulls apiece, Corral notching two for a loss. Tufaga and Lauren Hines each contributed four pulls.
East 19, E. River 0
East dispatched Eagle River 19-0 in a CIC flag football game Saturday at Eagle River High, getting two touchdown passes from quarterback Ana Salia.
Both of Salia's scoring tosses came in the first half, the first on a 40-yarder to Mia Wilson and the second on a 20-yarder to Rachel Fisher to give East a 12-0 lead at the break.
Grace Wiggins added a 10-yard touchdown run for the T-birds in the second half and Katrina Watson caught a one-point conversion pass.
Thursday Night Fights
Hampton Mills stopped Justin Zellweger by technical knockout in the second round of a fight between 210-pounders to win the main event of Thursday Night at the Fights at the Egan Center.
Five of the seven bouts were decided by three-round decisions. The only other stoppage came when 179-pounder John Terry won by third-round TKO over 184-pounder Jonathan Fischer.
