Spurs cut F Young

San Antonio, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The San Antonio Spurs waived veteran forward Sam Young on Thursday to reduce their preseason roster to 19 players.

Young had signed with San Antonio on Sept. 30 and played 18 minutes in the Spurs' exhibition contest against CSKA Moscow on Wednesday. The 28-year-old spent last season with Indiana and averaged 2.8 points and 2.2 rebounds over 56 games.

A second-round pick of Memphis in the 2009 NBA Draft, Young has averaged 5.8 points and 2.3 rebounds over four seasons with the Grizzlies, Philadelphia and Indiana.
