South 33, Chugiak 7
Julia Carmack rushed for three touchdowns and Hailey Hakala rushed for two, propelling South past Chugiak 33-7 in a Cook Inlet Conference flag football game Thursday at South.
Carmack scored on runs of 18, 10 and 2 yards. Two of her touchdowns came in the first half to lift the Wolverines to a 14-7 halftime lead.
Hakala, a freshman, raced 53 yards for one touchdown and 12 yards for another. Point-after conversions were scored by Sabrina Ungara, Hailey Hodgson and Sarah Lundgren.
Ungara and McKenzie Smith sparked South’s defense with an interception apiece.
Dimond 26, East 7
East grabbed an early lead but Dimond answered with four straight touchdowns Thursday to claim a 26-7 CIC flag football win at Dimond.
Grace Wiggins ran for a touchdown to give East a 7-0 lead, but it was all Dimond after that.
Vanessa Tufaga rushed for 115 yard and two touchdowns on nine carries to lead the Lynx, scoring on runs of 18 and 52 yards. Tara Thompson rushed for 89 yards on 10 carries, including a 31-yard touchdown run, and Malia Lyken scored on a 10-yard run.
Defensively, Tufaga and Thompson each finished with four pulls, Lyken contributed two pulls and an interception and Lauren Hines had one pull and one interception.
Service 26, Eagle River 0
Julia Miknich completed 12 of 17 passes, with three of them going for touchdowns, Thursday in Service’s 26-0 shutout of Eagle River in a CIC flag football game at rainy Anchorage Football Stadium.
LaRhonda Daniels, who rushed for 70 yards on nine carries, bolted 30 yards for the Cougars’ other touchdown.
Helping out defensively were Allison Stassel (six pulls, all for losses) and Mariah Williams (one interception).
