Steve Summerhays does not have a goals-against average; that is quite good

Let's just go ahead and say Notre Dame senior goaltender Steve Summerhays of Anchorage is going to win some kind of weekly award in the next couple days.

And that is not exactly going out on a shaky limb -- not to put too fine a point on it, but after two games Summerhays does not have a goals-against average that includes a crooked number. Um, his is 0.00.

Summerhays fed Western Michigan another bagel tonight. After stopping 22 shots in Notre Dame's season-opening 4-0 home-ice win Friday, he again stopped 22 shots tonight at Kalamazoo in a 3-0 victory over the Broncos (sorry, Nevala -- inside joke, kids). That gives Summerhays eight career shutouts.

Not only that, but Summerhays pocketed an assist on the game-securing, empty-net goal. He owns three career helpers.

Summerhays and crew killed 11 Western Michigan power plays on the weekend.
