Kodiak claims Lady Grizzlies volleyball crown

Kodiak outlasted Grace Christian in the championship match in the 18th annual Lady Grizzlies Invitational volleyball tournament Saturday at Grace Christian School.

Kodiak, the only Class 4A team in the 12-team field, defeated Grace 20-17, 13-20, 15-12.

Leading the Bears were Isabelle Riann and Summer McKechnie. Riann was named the tournament’s top defensive player and McKechnie was named the most valuable setter.

Claiming the award as the top offensive player was Heather Green of Grace Christian, the runner-up at last season’s Class 3A state tournament.

Anchorage Christian claimed third place.
