Anchorage-Fairbanks showdown highlights tonight's AFC card

Anchorage Daily NewsOctober 16, 2013

Anchorage's bst will meet Fairbanks' best in an AFC championship mixed-martial arts fight tonight  at Sullivan Arena.

A big crowd is expected for the welterweight showdown between Nic Herron Webb of Anchorage and Collin Reuter of Fairbanks. The 600 floor seats are already sold out, promoter Sarah Lorimer said.

The first fight is at 7:30 p.m. Herron and Reuter will meet in the main event around 10, Lorimer said.

Herron, an East High graduate, is 12-5 and a two-time AFC champion. Reuter, who trains in Sacramento, Calif., is 10-2 and a champion of Fairbanks' Solid As A Rock Fighting Championships.

"It's a long time coming," Lorimer said of the Herron-Reuter matchup. The training and fighting schedules of the two fighters have kept it from happening before, she said.

Tickets for the event range from $25-100.
