Dimond's undefeated flag football season continued Thursday, putting the Lynx one win from claiming a fourth Cook Inlet Conference title and completing back-to-back undefeated seasons.
Dimond earned a 20-0 semifinal victory over West at Dimond Alumni Field, where South won the other semifinal 39-7 over Service.
Dimond and South will square off for the CIC title Friday at 4 p.m. at Dimond.
Dimond got short touchdown runs from Tara Thompson and Malia Lyken and Thompson tossed a 31-yard touchdown pass to Lauren Hines. The scoring pass came with 2.3 seconds to play in the first half to give Dimond a 14-0 lead at the break and provide some cushion in an otherwise close game.
"It was a great game," Dimond coach Kathleen Navarre said. "West came to play. Everybody stepped up and made key runs and first downs to keep it rolling."
Dimond is 16-0 on the season and has won 33 straight. West finished at 7-9.
Vanessa Tufaga led the Dimond rushing attack with 54 yards and Thompson led the defense with 12 pulls and an interception. Hines racked 55 receiving yards on two catches and Abby Corral pitched in with seven pulls, two of which were for a loss.
Anna Sophia-Roberts led West with 126 yards on 18 carries and eight pulls, and Annie Rush completed 10 of 14 passes for 55 yards. Defensively, Natalie Manske grabbed six pulls, three for losses; Grace Kubitz had five, Abby Fischer five and Maya McPherson four.
South's win was a showcase for quarterback Julia Carmack, who ran for a 20-yard touchdown, threw two touchdown passes to Claire Lovering and returned one of her two interceptions 15 yards for a touchdown.
Haley Hakala contributed a 2-yard touchdown run for the Wolverines (12-4) and Sabrina Ungaro turned in the highlight of the night with a jaw-dropping, weaving 95-yard touchdown run near the end of the first half.
"I'm so excited," Ungaro said. "I think we're gonna do it. I think we're gonna win this year."
Service (7-9) got its only touchdown on a 22-yard touchdown pass from Julia Miknich to Haleigh Van Allen.
