Miami columnist Leonard Pitts (ADN Oct. 16) arrogates unto himself the authority to call noted (black) pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Benjamin Carson a “doctor who lost his way” for his negative assessment of Obamacare. As if that weren’t bad enough, Pitts consistently plays the race card by referring to the “white right,” “roomful of white conservatives” and “Hyperbolic nonsense is the water in which the extremes swim.” It would be amusing if it weren’t so pathetic to realize that conservatives are able to debate an issue based on its merits, but Liberals can’t so they merely engage in ad hominem attacks — name-calling.
Pitts claims that Dr. Carson is like (“Gone With The Wind”) blacks who say “marse’ and “ole miss,” and that he capitulates to ingratiate himself to conservatives. Pitts makes it very plain that he considers anyone opposing Obama guilty of racism, and for another black to do so is to “betray his heritage.” He maintains that Carson should be ashamed of himself, and he “should know better;” he says that Carson’s position (as a black) is an attempt to place “a respectable sheen” on racism, he has a “poor grasp of basic history,” he trivializes (slavery) and “urinates on the unmarked graves of ancestors,” and “is beneath contempt.”
Wow! Classless race-baiter Pitts sure clears the air with reasoned debate.
