Aces update: Winger on the way from AHL; Curry to IR

The Alaska Aces are receiving more reinforcement from AHL Abbotsford -- the Heat have assigned winger David Eddy to the ECHL club. (He's listed as a defenseman in ECHL transactions today -- but he's a forward).

Eddy will join the Aces in Las Vegas, said Aces coach Rob Murray -- Alaska is scheduled to fly out Thursday morning and Friday night opens a three-game series against the Wranglers.

Murray said Eddy for the moment likely will be a third-line winger expected to add some grit to the lineup. Eddy didn't have a point in two games with the Heat. Last season, he earned 5-11--16 totals and a -15 rating, plus 61 penalty minutes, in 32 games with ECHL Utah, and didn't score a point in 10 games with the Heat.

Some local fans might remember Eddy played three seasons at St. Cloud State, earning 30-35--65 totals in 92 career games.

In other Aces news, the club placed veteran defenseman Sean Curry (lower-body injury) on the 21-day injured reserve.
