Carle, Thompson post their first NHL goals this season in Lightning OT win

Posted by DOYLE WOODY, on October 24, 2013

Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Matt Carle and his teammate, center Nate Thompson, both of Anchorage, got off the goal schneid tonight.

Each scored in a 6-5 OT win over the visiting Chicago Blackhawks. Actually, they provided the first two goals of the game, with Carle striking on the power play and Thompson striking short-handed.

That's Carle's 38th career goal, and 20th on the power play. Thompson now owns 31 career goals, three short-handed.

Also, bonus: Former Alaska Aces winger Anthony Peluso scored the first NHL goal of his career tonight with a marker for Winnipeg in a 3-2 OT loss at Nashville.

And, San Jose, ouch: The Sharks outshot the host Bruins, 39-17, but lost 2-1 when Boston center David Krecji tipped home a shot with one second left in regulation to hand San Jose its first regulation loss of the season.
