A high wind warning has been posted for the Anchorage Hillside and Turngain Arm starting early Monday morning, with gusts to 75 mph possible. The same storm, with "copious tropical moisture," is expected to bring heavy rain to areas to the south, including parts of the Kenai Peninsula.

The National Weather Service says southeast winds of 35-50 mph are possible, with the potential for 75 mph gusts.

The same storm system has resulted in a flood watch for areas to the south, including Whittier and Seward, with up to 5 inches of rain possible Sunday and Monday.

"A large and rather slow moving weather system will bring widespread rainfall to the southern mainland today into Monday," the weather service said. "This storm will bring copious tropical moisture with it...resulting in heavy rainfall being likely with local amounts in excess of 5 inches possible."
